September Meeting

Hope you've had a great summer, and have got loads of new and interesting photographs!

Just a reminder that the September meeting of the club will be held on Thursday, 11th September, at our usual venue of The Cabin, Rossinver, Co Leitrim (beside the football field), starting at 8:00pm

The motivational theme for this month's meeting is "Architecture". Members are free to interpret this as they see fit, and are encouraged to send in up to four images on this theme, taken since the January 2014 meeting (9th January 2014), for inclusion in the slideshow after the break at this month's meeting. Please email your photographs to the usual club email address. If at all possible resize your images so that they are 1024 pixels on their longest edge, and make sure that they are sent by midnight on Tuesday, 9th September.

The video from the July meeting (motivational theme "Pets") has now been uploaded to the club's Youtube page and you should be able to view it here.

One of the things we shall be discussing at this month's meeting will be the 2015 North-West Regional rounds of the IPF Print & Projected Image and National Nature competitions. It may seem early to be discussing this, but the NW rounds will probably be held very early in 2015 (if not before the end of 2014) as the National Finals will be held in February 2015, and one of the points of the Regional rounds is to select images to go forward to the Finals. From what I have seen of the images submitted to the motivational themes we have more than just a few members whose images would be hard beaten in the regional rounds. We missed our chance this year by not being prepared in advance, so let's take this opportunity to showcase our club!

Finally a reminder of the motivational themes for the rest of the year:-
  • October - Trees
  • November - Hedgerows
  • December - Portraits
With the onset of autumn, now may be a good time to be thinking about trees and hedgerows if you haven't already taken pictures. The autumn fruits are now in the hedgerows, and I've even seen some trees starting to take on their autumn colours.
